***Roux has been through a tough time, but she’s coming out of her shell and ready to share her gentle heart with someone patient and loving.***
Roux arrived in rescue after a complicated medical journey, including urgent surgery to repair bilateral hernias.
Her recovery went well, and now she is ready to find her forever family.
Initially very fearful of people, Roux has made incredible progress in foster care.
While she still may not enjoy being picked up or having someone hover over her,
she now enjoys gentle pets and will choose to sit beside her person.
She even voluntarily climbed into her foster’s lap for a cuddle — a huge milestone.
Roux’s favorite times include quiet mornings in bed, gentle belly rubs, and sunshine laps.
She’s been known to nudge her foster awake with a friendly boop or gently “butt bump”
other housemates to get attention — showing her sweet confidence is growing every day.
While she isn’t a huge fan of having a harness put on, Roux enjoys going on walks
once she’s out and about and exploring her surroundings.
She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, including larger ones,
and seeks them out for comfort and cuddles.
Roux also lives peacefully with a cat.
Training & Routine:
Roux is doing well with potty training.
She was kenneled during the day and on crate rest during her recovery.
While she can become anxious in a crate and may have occasional accidents,
she is food motivated and continues to improve with consistency and patience.
The Right Home for Roux:
• Calm, structured home with patient adopters
• Secure, physical fenced yard required
• Confident resident dog companion strongly recommended
• Continued positive-reinforcement training
With time, patience, and love, Roux will blossom into the sweetest companion —
gentle, loving, and deeply loyal to her person.
